We are proud to announce that two of our own, Boikano Mosebi and Sebongizene Mothetho, have been selected as semi-finalists for the 2024 Harvard Sustainability Leaders Challenge, organized by the Harvard Undergraduate Clean Energy Group.
The Harvard Sustainability Leaders Challenge is a prestigious competition designed for high school students who are passionate about making a positive impact on the environment from a young age. This challenge provides students with the unique opportunity to begin their sustainability journey with guidance from Ivy League mentors and global leaders. Participants gets the chance to develop innovative solutions to environmental issues, compete in a challenging environment, and receive mentorship from top-tier institutions as they progress through the competition.
This year, the Harvard Sustainability Leaders Challenge attracted over a hundred participants from around the world, with only 18 projects advancing to the semi-final round. Our team’s project, developed under the theme “Learn with Nature,” focuses on a membrane system designed to improve water absorption in soil and retain moisture to prevent crops from drying out prematurely.
Soofia appreciates Learn With Leaders for providing our students with the platform and support to take part in this challenge.
We are excited to see Boikano Mosebi and Sebongizene Mothetho showcase their innovative solution and compete against other talented individuals in the semi-finals. Their dedication to sustainability and commitment to making a difference in the world is truly inspiring. We wish them the best of luck as they continue on their journey to becoming future leaders in sustainability.
