UNICEF warned of the dangers posed by online violence, cyber bullying and digital harassment for the 70.6 per cent of young people aged 15 to 24 years old who are online globally, and called for concerted action to tackle and prevent violence against children and young people online.

Soofia International School on the 5th February 2019 responded to the call by giving Grade 5 students an exercise to research on the internet about cyber bulling and digital harassment in their ICT (Internet, Communication and Technology) class. After conducting their research they prepared and presented power-point presentations about the Safe Use of the Internet.

The presentation included definitions of cyber bullying and digital harassment, signs of cyber bullying, the effects of cyber bullying, words often used by bullies and how it may affect them in the long term if it is not reported. During the interactive session, some students confessed to have been victims of the bullying, fortunately they reported the abuse.
