Soofia International School had the privilege of hosting representatives from the University of Johannesburg (UJ) and the Central University of Technology, Free State (CUT) for an informative and engaging career and university admissions session.
The joint session brought together AS/A Level and LASC learners from Soofia International School, alongside LGCSE learners from Likileng International School. It provided students with a valuable opportunity to interact directly with representatives from two leading South African higher education institutions and gain a clearer understanding of the transition from secondary school to university.
Throughout the session, learners were introduced to a range of study opportunities and received practical guidance on the university application process. Key areas of discussion included admission requirements, APS score calculations, programme selection, and important considerations when preparing for life at university.
The representatives also highlighted the importance of looking beyond academic requirements when preparing for higher education. Learners were encouraged to consider how they can successfully balance their studies with the wider university experience, including personal development, independence, involvement in university activities, and making the most of the opportunities available to them.
For many learners, understanding university requirements and application processes early can make a significant difference in how confidently they plan their academic futures. The session therefore provided an important platform for learners to ask questions, clarify uncertainties, and begin making informed decisions about their next steps.
The interaction also reinforced the importance of exposing learners to diverse academic and career pathways. By connecting students directly with higher education institutions, Soofia International School continues to help learners develop the knowledge and confidence needed to navigate their post-school options.
